Laimböck is the name of an originally Austrian family that settled in the Netherlands in the first half of the nineteenth century. For decades they manufactured gloves in their own workshop. The Laimböck shop in the chic colonnades of the Kurhaus in the seaside resort of Scheveningen was famous.
When glove sales declined in the early 1980s, the company also began manufacturing bags. The bag on this page is a great example of this: decades of experience in making fine leather goods is represented in this bag.
Unfortunately, the production and sale of bags did not yield the desired result and Laimböck had to downsize considerably. Fortunately, the gloves are still for sale.
And of course the bag on this page is also for sale. It is made of beautiful supple leather that is completely stitched in vertical stripes in different directions.
The bag has probably been hanging in the sun because part of the front and the entire flap had discoloured to a pale brown shade (see photos below).
The color has been completely restored and the bag is ready to be reused.
