“What are you even doing?” I am regularly asked. That's undoubtedly a legitimate question, but I can't give it a short answer. Ever since I started working as a curator at the Shoe Museum, the current Shoe Quarters, I was fascinated by the versatility of leather as a material. Perhaps I even recognized myself in that material: just like leather, I am versatile and I always manage to develop new qualities.
To keep my work somewhat organized, I have grouped a number of services together. All services have a common admiration for leather as a material. But I don't close my eyes to the less beautiful side of leather; animal origin, pollution, overproduction and mass consumption.
In addition to appraising your properties, research and advice, my mission is to take the appreciation for leather products to a higher level through the sale of vintage leather and second chance products. In my blogs I discuss all possible aspects of the production process, the designers, historical use and passive conservation.
Maybe my versatility causes you some stress. You may also be looking for something that isn't in the What-I-Do menu. In both cases you can contact me directly. Your questions are very welcome!
